A guide to the area that people drive past on their way up to the Ben or Coe.

The area covered extends west from Loch Lomond and north from Arran, with its magical granite, to the soutern borders of Glen Coe. The area includes the cragging on the Mull of Kintyre, the mountain routes of The Cobbler and Ben Lomond.

This area alos contains some excellent winter climbing, from steep water ice to typical Scottish winter routes. Many of these are, like the rock routes real gems. Usefully for many this region is much quicker and easier to reach than the more usually visited areas, easily reachable for a weekend from northern England or the cities of southern Scotland.
